Driveway Crack Repair
Your driveway is one of the first things you and your guests will see when approaching your home. Cracks and divots can detract from an otherwise good first impression.
Even if you’re not convinced of the need for repairs for cosmetic reasons, cracks can worsen over time and lead to structural damage in your driveway — including potholes. Potholes can form when water seeps into cracks, freezes and expands. When the ice melts, the surrounding area collapses and creates a pothole. Potholes can damage your vehicles and make it inconvenient to walk on your driveway, so it’s best to get them filled in quickly if they do appear.
When you have cracks or potholes in your driveway, the CMI Paving crew can repair them by filling them in and resurfacing the area. In doing so, we accomplish a few things:
- Protecting the structural integrity of your driveway: Cracks and potholes expose unsealed surfaces and can let excessive moisture into the base of your driveway, making it prone to additional damage.
- Creating a safe base for vehicles: We’ll make sure that the surface of your driveway is smooth and level so that it is safe and convenient for drivers.
- Making your home look more welcoming: A nicely paved driveway adds to the curb appeal of your home and makes it a better place for you and your family to live.
When you choose CMI Paving for driveway repair solutions, we’ll have your pavement in good shape before you know it.
Asphalt Driveway Resurfacing
Cracked driveway resurfacing is just one of the many services offered by CMI Paving. While repairs are to be expected once in a while, regular maintenance can go a long way in preventing lasting damage and keeping your driveway looking fresh. We recommend that homeowners completely resurface a blacktop driveway every 10 to 20 years.
When we mill and resurface a driveway, we keep the sub-grade base intact. This base is essential because it provides structural support to your asphalt driveway while allowing stormwater to drain through to the ground. Our crew will remove only the top layer of the asphalt in a process called milling.
After stripping off the top layer of material, we cover the base of the driveway with a fresh new bed of asphalt. We responsibly recycle the old material and leave you with a pristine, freshly paved driveway that will last for years to come. Asphalt has a relatively quick curing time, so you should be able to drive on it as usual within a day or two.
If you’ve recently had repairs done on your driveway, you might also need to get it resurfaced. If this is the case, it’s not necessary to remove the top layer. Instead, our crew will add another layer over it to create a finished surface. We’ll ensure that there is a gradual slope for stormwater management and that any cracks are fully covered and repaired.
Resurfacing an asphalt driveway can give it the appearance of entirely new pavement without the cost of complete excavation and replacement. If you’re not sure whether your driveway could benefit from resurfacing, our paving crew would be happy to take a look and offer a professional opinion!
